About the Project
Kolonics Winery which goes back several generations, is located on the south-eastern side of Somló. Due to their traditional winemaking approach and the significant yield limitation the wines reflect the typical Somlai terroir. The wines are made using a classic, traditional process: low yield, fermentation and aging in oak and acacia barrels. The winery has a capacity of 30,000 litres of wooden barrels. We are aging the wines in the cellar for 1-2-3 years, before bottling.
About the Client
The design is intended to capture the essence of the winery’s Hungarian heritage while appealing to international markets. The identity’s visual focal point is a drawn portrait of the family’s first vineyard owner, Kolonics György, made of little dots that can be shown at any scale without issue. This project encompassed designing new labels for the winery's premium wines, creating print materials to represent the brand at tasting events abroad, and crafting evocative copy that captures the winery’s philosophy and dedication to traditional winemaking.
